School of History and Humanities

Part of a series of posters designed for this department. The brief was always left completely open and usually I would supply three different designs and they would choose their favorite. As part of the theme was how could the humanities guide us out of the current crisis, I used an image of Plato as he was a scholar of the humanities set in a Warhol/punk background to represent the current crisis. Imagery made up in Photoshop.

Vanderbilt University

An open brief with just the lecture details. Democracy and money in America was the lecture title so made Photoshop composite of Benjamin Franklin on the 100 dollar note. Obama used to represent democracy as the main element with Mitt Romney who he defeated in 2012 election positioned below Obama and Franklin’s images.

The Lewis Glucksman Memorial Symposium

An open brief and so I decided to use a detail from the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in Paris. This triumphal arch was commissioned in 1806 to commemorate Napoleon’s military victories of the previous year. In Photoshop, this was merged with a 19th century map in the background with Britain and Ireland prominent as this was being addressed by one of the speakers. An early portrait of Napoleon visible through the map.
